Applications / Wear Parts

Fluid Seals provides a broad range of wear parts for rotating equipment that provide reliability in even the harshest environments  and reduce the damage to your pump if it does run dry.

Vespel®CR6100

DuPont™ Vespel® CR-6100 is a composite material manufactured from Teflon® PFA and carbon fibres. Due to its excellent dimensional stability, chemical resistance, and large temperature range, DuPont™ Vespel® CR-6100 can replace metal, carbon, bronze, and other composite materials for use in pump wear rings, vertical pump shaft bearings, throat bushings, throttle bushings and similar wear parts in centrifugal pumps. Below are some of the properties of Vespel® CR-6100 which make it ideal for rotating equipment wear components:

  • Temperature capabilities from cryogenic to 260⁰C
  • Coefficient of thermal expansion less than carbon steel (in the x-y plane)
  • Near-universal chemical compatibility
  • Ease of machining and installation
  • Always in stock

Vespel®CR6100 is ideal for

  • Multi-stage horizontal pumps
  • Charge pumps
  • Boiler feed water pumps
  • Amine stripping pumps
  • Pipeline product shipping pumps

B-Series

B-Series composite wear components from global supplier Boulden, replace PEEK based materials for general services pumps, dirty water services, cooling water and non-flashing hydrocarbons

Boulden B-330

B-330 is a high-performance thermoplastic material with 30% carbon fibre reinforced polyetheretherketone (PEEK). B-330 can be used in temperatures up to 135 degrees C. It is available in diameters up to 800mm and lengths up to 200mm. B-330 combines  low coefficient of friction, excellent chemical resistance and high strength. Ideal for

  • Cooling water pump wear rings.

Boulden B-835

B-835 is a proprietary blend of carbon-filled PEEK (polyether ether ketone). The unique manufacturing process results in a material with a coefficient of thermal expansion very close to the same as carbon steel. Available in lengths up to 300mm. B-835 can be used in temperatures from -40⁰ C to 135⁰ C primarily in clean services for the following components:

  • Pump wear rings
  • Pump throttle bushings
  • Pump centre-stage bushings
  • Pump throat bushings
  • Vertical pump shaft bearings

Boulden B-920

B-920 uses a unique polymer blend combined with aramid fibres for use in dirty or clean liquids up to 175⁰ C. In testing B-920 has demonstrated good wear resistance to dirty water. Available in lengths up to 300mm.The unique manufacturing process creates a material with a coefficient of thermal expansion less than carbon steel. B-920 can be used for the following components:

  • Pump wear rings
  • Pump throttle bushings
  • Pump throat bushings
  • Vertical pump shaft bearings

Boulden B-1050

B-1050 uses a unique carbon fibre and polymer blend for use in dirty or clean liquids up to 135⁰ C. In testing B-1050 has demonstrated good wear resistance to dirty water. Available in lengths up to 300mm. The unique manufacturing process creates a material with a coefficient of thermal expansion less than carbon steel. B-1050 can be used for the following components:

  • Pump wear rings
  • Pump throttle bushings
  • Pump throat bushings
  • Vertical pump shaft bearings

Metcar – Carbon graphite

Metcar grades include a broad range of materials that provide lubrication in even the harshest environments. These materials utilise a carbon matrix as the structural component and graphite for lubrication. The carbon matrix can be impregnated with metals, high temperature oxidation inhibitors, synthetic resins and other proprietary materials.

Metcar replaces Graphalloy® and carbon graphite parts. Applications are Flashing, low lubricity services, extremely high temperature services, dry-running bearings, mag drive pump bearings, condensate water pumps.

Metcar® M161

M-161 is white metal impregnated carbon graphite, very low friction, excellent bearing material for use in lubricated or non-lubricated services from cryogenic up to 200 C. M-161 is completely non-galling and non-seizing, making M-161 a great replacement for traditional bushing materials in low-lubricity services such as condensate or LPG. Pumps fitted with M-161 can survive running dry at start-up.  Bearings that originally required oil or grease can often be changed to M-161, eliminating the need for external lubrication.

M-161 has a very low coefficient of thermal expansion and excellent dimensional stability and is ideal for

  • Vertical pump shaft bearings
  • Agitator bushings
  • Non-lubricated bearings

Metcar® M-310

Metcar® M-310 is carbon graphite impregnated with nickel-chrome alloy. M-310 is the highest temperature composite material and can be used in temperatures from cryogenic to 900 C. It combines low-friction, high strength, high-temperature limit, and excellent heat dissipation. The nickel impregnation provides excellent strength, heat dissipation, and chemical resistance. It is completely non-seizing and non-galling and can run dry during pump start-up and through typical process conditions which would damage traditional materials.

Metcar® M-310 is the ideal choice for

  • Mag-drive or canned-motor pump bearings
  • Pump wear rings
  • Pump wear rings
  • Non-lubricated bearings
